A Really, Really Scary Story for Halloween!

“TELL ME A REALLY REALLY SCARY STORY!!  that is too scary to even read to little kids,”  Lulu said.  “With werewolves and zombies and everything.”

So here is what I told her.  Remember, be careful, because this super-duper scary.

Once upon a time, Dracula, Frankenstein, a zombie, a ghost, a skeleton and the Werewolf were all sitting around in their big dark, super-duper scary castle.

Skelly yawned and said, “I’m bored.  “What can anyone think to do?”

Wolfie said, “I know, I know! Let’s go eat someone!”

But Ghosty complained, “No, no! That won’t work, because Skelly and I don’t eat anything at all.  So that’s no fun for us.”

Then Drac said, “I know, I know!  Let’s turn ourselves into bats and go fly around!”

But Frankie whined, “No, no! That won’t work at all, because only you and Ghosty can fly.”

Then Skelly jumped up and exclaimed, “I got it! I got it! Let’s all think of our most scariest sounds and then go down into the town and scare some people!”

Everybody thought that was a great idea and so they began practicing their super scary sounds.

“B-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O!” wailed Ghosty.

“RATTLE, RATTLE, KNICK, KNOCK, KNOCK, RATTLE, RATTLE, KNOCK, KNOCK, KNICK,” made Skelly, as he cluncked his bones together like a xylophone.

“MWAH-HA-HA-HA-HA-HAAAAAA!!” yelled Drac in a super scary maniacal laughing kind of way.

“AHHHH-WOOOOOOO!” howled Wolfie in his always scary wolf-like way.

“Uhm, ‘Cheep,’” said Frankenstein.

“No! No! No!” Everybody else said.

“That is NOT a scary enough sound, Frankie,” laughed Skeleton.  “ Now, try it again.”

“Uhm, okay,” said Frankie.  “Let me think.”

“Okay, Got it. How’s this?”  and he made a real super duper scary low moaning sound just like a real monster would make like this:

“Oh, yeah!” Everybody said, “ That’s great!”

Zombie pouted a little.  “Yeah, that’s great, but it sounds just like my sound.”

“Aw, Zombie, we can both do our sounds at the same time and that will make it even more scary,” said Frankie.

“Oh, Okay.  That’s good,” said Zombie.

So, they all walked out of their castle and went down into the town.

At the first house they came to, Skeleton rang the doorbell.  DING DONG!

A mommy and a little child opened the door together.

“B-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O!” wailed Ghosty.

“RATTLE, RATTLE, KNICK, KNOCK, KNOCK, RATTLE, KNOCK, KNOCK, KNICK,” made Skelly, as he cluncked his bones together like a xylophone.

“MWAH-HA-HA-HA-HA-HAAAA!” yelled Drac with that super scary maniacal laugh.

“AHHH-WOOOOOOO!” howled Werewolf.

“MUHHHHHHHH-EHHHHRRRRRR,” moaned Frankie – and Zombie – together.

“Wow!  Great costumes!” The mommy and the child said.

And they gave each monster a piece of candy.

So, the monster friends went back home to their castle.

They ate their candy and decided to play hide and seek instead.’

(Now! Wasn’t that super-duper scary?  Lulu didn’t think so either, but it did make her laugh.  Pass this on this Halloween season to your favorite little ghosty, witch or fairy princess or Buzz Lightyear and see what they think.  Let me know! Ciao, tutti – and enjoy this Halloweeeeeen season!)
